A Better Material for Dentistry

In recent years, alternative materials have made their way into the dental industry. One of these materials is called lithium disilicate. This substance is a glass-ceramic mixture created with lithium metal, silicon, and other crystalline elements. Unlike common metal alloys, lithium disilicate can be customized to match the color of your teeth. The match is so good that it generally takes a dental professional to recognize the difference! Lithium disilicate is so strong and versatile that it is used for fillings, veneers, and crowns.

Lithium disilicate restorations can be finished quickly. It’s durable and resilient, with low incident ratings for mechanical failures, such as coming loose or chipping. Its endurance against pressure from biting, chewing and grinding outperforms other materials. Lithium disilicate also has a good record of biocompatibility, not causing irritation or wear to other teeth or your gums.

Confidence in Lithium Disilicate

The Placerville Dentistry Group makes sure to do our homework in evaluating the materials and procedures we use to help you build a better smile. Lithium disilicate is safe to use, versatile, durable, and a welcome material in the dental industry. Had a crown come off and tooth break at 4pm in Monday. Called and got an appt 9:00 Tuesday morning. Was treated very professionally and had surgery that day! Dr. Steele explained all of my options, from pulling the tooth and doinf norhinf else, to a bridge, to an implant. I went with an implant and so the procedure won't be complete for another few months due to bone grafting and healing prior to final tooth placement. I am extremely happy with Dr. Steele and all staff I dealt with. I will be scheduling my cleanings and maintenance here too when this process is complete. Thank you Dr. Steele and team!
