Get Ready to Go

If you are like many people during the pandemic with it’s “stay at home” and “lockdown” orders, it might be more than six months since your last dental checkup. Nevertheless, your teeth need regular professional attention, and that means semiannual visits to the dentist. It’s the best way to guarantee your mouth is clean and trouble free.

At the Placerville Dental Group, we welcome you back! We’d also like you to know how important your health and safety is to us. As dental staff members, we were already wearing face masks and gloves, using sanitized equipment and cleaning frequently. Now we do it all even more often and have the benefit of COVID vaccines to make your trip to the dentist even safer. (If you have any ongoing concerns about the coronavirus during your dental visit, talk to our staff in advance with your questions.)

To continue providing safe visits to the dentist, here are some things that our clients can do before and during their appointments.

Timing

We know how intimidating dental visits are for many patients, so we do our best to prepare for your visit. We pull your records and get the appropriate equipment and materials ready for you. Life may get in the way of your schedule, but please keep your scheduled appointment. Besides making the day run smoothly, it limits the number of patients in our office at any one time.

Hygiene

You may be getting your teeth cleaned, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t brush and floss them in advance. To the contrary, brushing and flossing prior to your visit removes the loose stuff so we can focus on the stubborn stuff. If you’re arriving from work or the gym, feel free to take time to freshen up and please schedule that into your day. Odors both pleasant (from too much perfume or cologne) and unpleasant (need we go into details?) are a distraction and a sneeze risk during our work. We have no objection to the use of mouthwash, mints, or chewing gum before you arrive.

The Posse

Some of our patients bring along a friend or family member for moral support. We welcome that when absolutely necessary. Keep in mind, however, that they might still need to stay in the waiting room, or even the parking lot, during the procedure. If you have kids accompanying you, it’s important to know that we are not qualified to supervise them during your procedure. Feel free to bring along another trusted adult to keep an eye on them as we keep an eye on your oral health. Also, please call in advance, as there may not be room in the waiting area for additional family members or friends, depending on current regulations or visitors.

Your regular visits to the Placerville Dental Group might have become a little irregular in the past year, but we’ll work with you to repair and strengthen your oral care routine. If you do not yet have a scheduled appointment with us, please do so here on our website. Or if you prefer, give our office a call and receive answers to any questions you might have on our policies.
