Emergency dental treatment is necessary when one of the following circumstances arise:
- A tooth is cracked or loosened by trauma, accident or chewing,
- Paralyzing tooth ache,
- A damaged or dislodged dental device.
Left untreated, all of the above can lead to tooth extraction and emergency hospital examinations for pain. Any medical doctor will tell you, however, that the solution for dental problems is a dentist! If you are experiencing an emergency dental situation in Fairplay, the Placerville Dental Group is ready to help you.

Severe Tooth Ache
A painful tooth is caused by one of many different complications. If a visual investigation or intraoral photography does not find the immediate issue, x-rays will examine deeper causes. The source of tooth pain may include:
- Problematic tooth decay, reaching the root,
- Bacterial infection, leading to abscess,
- Oral cysts, tumors or other abnormalities.
Our examination determines the problem and we proceed to the resolution. Toothaches do not go away by themselves or by taking analgesics. Only by eliminating the source of the pain will your problem be resolved.
Broken Teeth and Appliances
If your tooth, crown, bridge, implant or other appliance has loosened or become dislodged, collect the parts, if possible, and come to our Placerville office right away. Before you arrive, take these steps:
- Clean the tooth or device gently using whatever means are available, preferably water, saliva or milk.
- Reinsert the tooth or part where it resides. If that’s not possible for a tooth, put it between your cheek and gum.
- Bite down on a tea bag or wet rag to keep the tooth or appliance in place.
- Apply something cold to your cheek to keep down any swelling.
- Alert our office at (530) 295-8000 and immediately come in to see our dentist.
Saving your tooth and your sanity is possible with emergency dental service at our nearby Placerville office. We are prepared to resolve your complications and send you back to your everyday life with emergency dentistry from the Placerville Dental Group!
