Make 2016 Your Best Dental Year!

A new year is here and in January your Placerville dentists have a few recommendations for keeping your teeth healthy in 2016. We believe our patients benefit tremendously from following these simple, yet important recommendations.

  • Brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes (2 x 2). Prevention is the first and best way to avoid serious dental problems.
  • Floss your teeth daily. And yes, this means every day! Flossing cleans out the plaque and food particles that brushing can’t reach. Flossing is an essential step to keep your mouth clean and healthy. Daily flossing also contributes to fresh breath!
  • Gum is good! Your mother and teachers may have hated gum chewing, but our Placerville dentists recommend it. Chewing sugarless gum contributes to dental health, especially if you do it after meals or when you’ve been drinking sugary beverages. If you chew gum, buy a brand that lets you do so for twenty minutes. (TMJ syndrome sufferers may not want to make this resolution!)
  • Eat a healthy and balanced diet, with fewer sugary snacks. This supports strong teeth and bones.
  • Drink tap water and use a refillable water bottle. In many local communities, tap water contains fluoride, which is good for your teeth and bones. It also helps save the environment from the waste caused by plastic bottles.
  • Visit the Placerville Dental Group a minimum of twice a year. You cannot keep good dental health by yourself. Regular removal of plaque and tartar from between your teeth and gums is essential to keep your mouth healthy. Your teeth always look better and your breath is always fresher after a dental cleaning, because a hygienist provides a deep clean that gives your mouth the boost it needs! Some patients even enjoy coming in four times a year for cleanings, instead of the standard two.

The staff at the Placerville Dental Group looks forward to helping you make 2016 your best dental health year ever! To consult with us on other dental improvements, such as tooth whitening, Invisalign for straighter teeth, dental implants or veneers, make an appointment online, by calling 295-8000 or through a visit of our practice at 699 Main Street, Suite B, in Placerville.
